I love this bike. As a 40-something not entirely fit crumudgeon, this bike makes it easy to get out and go sightsee, or to run to the grocery store for either a loaf of bread or a pile of goods. It comes with a very nice set of components and accessories, and is well set up for commuting with solid rear rack and full fenders (not flimsy, either). Integral lighting is a very nice feature and works well, though the rear lights may be obscured by large panniers. Easy and fun to ride; the assist helps but doesn't do all the work for you. Great way to build fitness and endurance without having to grind your way to a reasonable distance, for those getting back to cycling after years of couch driving.
Just purchased this bike and love it! Many folks think you can't get a work out on an electric bike but that is not true! You determine how hard you want to work, just the same as when you work out in the gym. The great thing is no fear anymore. I don't have to worry about planning my routes to avoid those particularly nasty hills....now I can go anywhere and actually because of that I ride more. The Trek Conduit+ is perfect for road riding and commuting to the grocery store. Not so good for light trails unless you change the tires and/or add suspension. Love this bike. Love the reflective tires and built in lights. Love the Matte black color. The only thing I might change is the handlebars. The handlebars on the xm 700+ have a bit of a curve to them and I would love to have that on this bike. Other than that, this bike is great. Love the fact that I can travel up to 50-75 miles on this bike on a charged battery.
I love this bike. The battery adds a dimension to riding beyond just shifting gears. If you're not warmed up, or you're tired, just bump up the battery level. If you're going up a steep hill, you can downshift, and/or you can bump up the battery power (3 settings: ECO, NORM, HIGH). It's important to be in the correct gear to get the most help from the battery. A couple times I entered a steep hill in too high a gear such that I was struggling. To get the most help from the battery, the pedals need to be moving. I no longer fear hills. There are a couple hills that I needed to walk with my comfort hybrid. The position is upright, but more aggressive than my comfort hybrid, and surprisingly more comfortable - noticeably less weight on my seat. One negative, I guess, is that I really feel the bumps. My comfort hybrid has shock absorbers, and this Trek Conduit+ does not. (But, frankly, I like feeling the bumps.) Due to medical issues with my lumbar which have been improved (but not cured) by surgery, I thought my bicycling days were over. It is so much fun to be getting back into it. I love this Trek Conduit+ bike.
